One Sunday, five service stations, one tight radius — that is the working model for an annual service day, and the church's reporting makes the output clear: trash gatherers, window washers, kit makers, and gardeners all moving in the same shift.

St. John's Lutheran Church is now loading the next deployment — a door-to-door canvass called "Meeting Our Neighbors," set for October 11. Volunteers are carrying a five-question survey into the surrounding blocks, with the explicit sub-goal of connecting residents to a church home and the broader aim of their salvation through Jesus Christ. The bulletin asks the congregation to pray the canvass bears the fruit God desires. Twenty-one men have signed up for the parallel men's ministry read of Man Up! The Quest for Masculinity, with a September 27 discussion of chapters 1 and 2 from 7:00–8:00 PM in the fellowship hall. Books run $10 and the signup sheet sits in the atrium — capacity is still open.

Hunger Justice Convening September 29

Lutheran Advocacy Ministry in Arizona and the Lutheran Engagement and Advocacy Network are hosting a joint Hunger Leaders Meeting on September 29 under the theme "Mercy and Compassion Merging for Hunger Justice." Church voices and community partners will work the upstream question together — not just distribution lines, but the systemic drivers behind them.
